CODMPE License Information

City of Des Moines Power Engineers License

Transfer Process

As you are already aware, the City of Des Moines has ended it’s Power engineers Program.  We as the Association have been working with the City of Des Moines to start a transfer process of all current license holders to our certification programs.   They have sent all current licensing information to us, in order for us to take over their program.  We would like to offer the IABME as an option for you to continue with your “Proof of Competency”.

The IABME has been certifying Boiler Operators since 1933 and holds a strong background in maintenance and education. We have classes and certifications in Low Pressure, High Pressure and Advanced High Pressure Boiler Operations. We host an annual school in Ames the third week of July every year and we are working on online opportunities as well.

Being a current license holder from the City of Des Moines, the IABME is prepared to Grandfather you in to the equivalent Certification we provide for the first year. After the first year, a test will be required to assess your knowledge and keep the certification.   Membership in the IABME is only $45/year. Maintaining your membership yearly and submitting 10 CEU’s (20 hours) of continuing education every 3 years will maintain your certification with the association

In order to transfer your license from Des Moines Power Engineers to an IABME Certification, Please fill out the form Here and include the PSI of your Boilers in the comments section, Pay $45 dues, and within a year schedule a test either online or in person.
